The Challenge of Icons

I waver between frustration and inspiration whenever around icons: the Eiffel Tower (or just about anything in Paris), the Statue of Liberty (or just about anything in NYC), and even in the wilderness (Grand Teton, Yosemite, Monument Valley) where Ansel Adams has already defined the classic perspective of so many special places, and a billion tourists have followed. I try to challenge myself to find a perspective that can be mine, that hasn't been taken a million times before. Sometimes I think I'm successful. Other times, not so much.
